I have two goals in life.
The first is is to get a physical/ philosophical grip on the universe. I've already got a couple of strong theories about why we're here and i'm canvassing scientific, philosophical and religious texts to make sure i get it right.
The second is to use that understanding to help balance out the emotional situation of the human race. I reckon this is possible if it is possible to articulate causality - the reactions of our actions work almost as effectively as divine judgement. I'm gonna work out a way to word this in a schwanky fashion if it kills me.
I learn about science through my studies - which is why i picked my degree (Photovoltaic engineer - a combination of semiconductor physics, electrical engineering and pure maths) and spend my spare time either engaged in the above pursuit or fencing.
For the fencers - french grip epeeist. I rely on my long arm (i am 6'4" and can nearly touch both knees while standing - disproportionately long arms), a good retreat, an accurate stop-hit and a neat disengage. I suck at attacking apart from my direct lunge, which is based on accuracy. I do not like compound attacks - i will defend and defend until i see an opportunity to use my direct lunge, usually with a (spelling?) coule. I cannot bend my wrists or supernate - if my wrist rolls outwards while fencing I see stars. This has improved my disengase speed since when i am "caught" I feel pain.
When you spend all your time being a pretentious wanker it's nice to get some mental 'time off' which i only ever get on the fencing strip.
